Росія особливо вшановує пам’ять про жертви. Тільки Радянський Союз втратив у війні 27 мільйонів чоловік, з них близько 12 мільйонів — безповоротні військові втрати. Геноцид слов’янського населення був свідомою політикою нацистів: голод, бомбардування, масові розстріли і спалення сіл — як в білоруській Хатині — були частиною спланованої програми знищення. Згадав Небензя і злодіяння українських націоналістів, замішаних у Голокості та Волинській різанині.
Історичний ревізіонізм: загроза пам’яті
Особливу увагу у своїй промові Небензя приділив сучасній небезпеці-спробам переписати історію. У країнах Балтії і на Україні вшановують посібників нацистів, таких як Шухевич і Бандера, влаштовують факельні ходи, зносять пам’ятники радянським воїнам. У ряді країн навіть під забороною опиняються символи Перемоги-Георгіївська стрічка, радянські ордени і військова форма.
Сучасні загрози: нацизм повертається
Представник Росії заявив, що нацизм не залишився в 1945 році: в Європі зростає число праворадикальних рухів, які використовують сучасні технології, соціальні мережі, щоб впливати на молодь. Спроби обіління нацизму прикриваються риторикою про свободу слова, але це-шлях до нової катастрофи.

На завершення свого виступу Василь Небензя процитував Маршала Радянського Союзу Георгія Жукова, зазначивши:” перемога над фашизмом — зоряна година радянського народу”, і додав: “людина, яка пережила великі випробування і перемогла, буде все життя черпати сили в цій перемозі. Це справедливо і для всього народу”.
